PRIVACY POLICY

PRIVACY AND SAFETY POLICIES
This website is owned and operated by  Associated Ice Cream. At Associated Ice Cream we recognize that many visitors to our site are concerned about the information they provide us and how we use that information. Our privacy policy has been developed to address potential concerns. If you have questions regarding our privacy policy, please send us an e-mail.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND WHAT WE DO WITH IT
The content of our websites is developed for the enjoyment of family members of all ages. We want to provide you with a fun experience for learning about ice cream, our company and our products. Access to our websites is free and does not require registration.

Some features of our websites require that you provide us with personal information. We do not collect personal information unless you voluntarily register or provide it. We do not collect any more personal information from you than is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity. When you register on our website, enter contests or subscribe to newsletters/catalogs, and indicate permission to do so, your e-mail address is added to our electronic mailing address book so that, from time to time, we can send you information about new features, additions and changes to our website and information regarding new promotional offers and contests.

For more information about our children's privacy policies, please refer to the "Child Privacy Policies and Considerations" section below.

Please be assured that Associated Ice Cream does not share or sell any of your information to unauthorized third parties. However, from time to time, we may be working with these companies to execute a specific promotion or program. If your information will be shared with any other company for the purposes of executing a specific promotion or program, the details will be clearly communicated in the program rules, and the other company will have no right to use your information for its own purposes.

SITE FEATURES
The descriptions that follow explain how our policies are implemented for each of our site features.

Contests (This feature is restricted based on age.)
Several contests are usually available on our sites. These contests award prizes to contestants who have entered. The contest entry forms typically require e-mail address, name and mailing address. They may also ask demographic information, and other opinion and product taste preferences.

This information is used to:
•  Notify winners.
•  Limit repeat submissions as described by the contest rules.
•  E-mail contestants about other contests or new site features if requested.
•  Aggregate contestant responses to questions in each information category.

All information collected from you for contest entry is destroyed after the above purposes have been met, or after you request to be removed from the database.

For information about contests open to children under the age of 13, please refer to the "Child Privacy Policies and Considerations" section below.

E-Commerce (This feature is exclusively available to adults 18 years and older.)
Our websites contain several specialty stores that operate as fully automated e-commerce features. These stores sell gift certificates for use in purchasing ice cream and promotional items highlighting specific ice cream product lines. In order to complete an online purchasing transaction, very specific and detailed information must be gathered from the online buyer. Because the purchase of products from our online store will require the use of a credit card and should be conducted in the name of the adult cardholder, we do not allow children or minors under the age of 18 to make purchases.

Electronic Postcards (This feature is not restricted based on age.)
Our websites include features that allow audience members to send specialized e-mail messages to other Internet e-mail addresses. The specialized formats include selectable greetings and images of ice cream from the website pages. To send this e-mail notice, recipient and sender e-mail addresses and names are gathered from the sender. This information is deleted from the site when the e-mail is produced, and thus no disclosure or reuse of this information is possible. Because these message features do not result in the retention of personal information, no operational distinction is made for children under the age of 13 and therefore no parental consent is sought.

Flavor Finder (This feature is exclusively available to adults 18 years and older.)
We have developed a system for allowing audience members to find retail locations throughout the United States where specific flavors of our products are available. In addition, the Flavor Finder can remember specific flavor search requests and e-mail back to the audience member at future dates when the flavor becomes available in the geographic area of interest. This future notification feature requires the collection of specific information about the audience member including e-mail address and retail stores to monitor for availability.

Online Polls (This feature is not restricted based on age.)
Several of our sites offer interactive polls to users so they can easily share their opinions with other users and see what the rest of the audience thinks. We use a method of "marking" users after they have voted, so they can vote only once on a particular question. The tag can only serve this purpose and is therefore not correlated with other information about the voter or other members of the website audience. Because these polls do not collect personal information, no operational distinction is made for children under the age of 13 and therefore no parental consent is sought.

Member Loyalty Programs (This feature is exclusively available to adults 18 years and older.)
Some of our websites have what are commonly referred to as "loyalty programs." Loyalty programs work like the very popular "frequent flyer" programs offered by most airlines. Our website-based loyalty programs offer prizes or rewards to audience members who frequently visit our website, purchase products from the site or participate in various other website-based functions. In order to participate in our loyalty programs, audience members must complete a registration process in which we ask for specific contact, demographic and/or opinion information.

CHILD PRIVACY POLICIES AND CONSIDERATIONS
We have developed our website to be fun and family-friendly. As such, we recognize that children under the age of 13 may be interested in accessing our website and ask that they get parental permission before doing so. We encourage parents/guardians to spend time online with their children and to participate in the activities offered on various sites.

We do not collect any more information than reasonably necessary to participate in an activity as a condition of participation.

The following information and statements of policy have been specifically developed for parents of children under the age of 13 regarding the operation of our websites.

Contests
If a contest is open to children under the age of 13, entry forms typically require child's first name, child's e-mail address and parent's e-mail address. This information is used to:
•  Notify both the parent and child if the child is a winner.
•  Ask the parent to claim the prize for his/her child via an online form.

Parental/Guardian Consent
Parental/guardian consent for a child's involvement with our website features is sought via automated e-mail to the parent's e-mail address as designated by the child. Note that we do not ask for parental consent for some of our website-based contests through which we collect the child's and parent's names and e-mail addresses solely for the purpose of a one-time contact to notify contest winners. Our e-mail message alerts the parent to the specific site feature through which the child caused the consent request to be generated. The e-mail also includes a link to this Privacy Policy. The parent is directed to access our website in order to provide consent.

Note that parental consent is applied on a site-wide basis. That is, after consent is given, all restricted features will be authorized for that child. (Of course, e-commerce features will remain closed to anyone under the age of 18.) If you do not wish your child to use any of the restricted site features as described above, no matter which site feature the child specifically attempted to access, you should not give your consent.

On our website consent form, the parent is asked to record his or her consent. To see the information collected from the child, the parent can contact us at the address below.

INTERNET TECHNOLOGIES
In addition to the information that you or your child might intentionally enter into our websites' forms, many people are concerned that certain technologies can be used or abused to compromise an individual's privacy while online. At our websites, we make no effort to gather information from you or your child without your knowledge. The following topics are included below in order to make available to you our policies regarding two such technologies.

Cookies
Our websites, like most of today's popular Internet locations, use cookies to facilitate connections with our website. We do not store information about you in the cookie files we create, nor do we allow a cookie to grant access to your personal data. Our cookie files merely identify you as someone who has visited our site previously and allow you to access our sites more easily. In effect, it tells us you've registered and that we already have whatever information is necessary in order for you to generate an e-mail or enter a contest. Again, we do not store any personal information in the cookie file.

IP Addresses
The computer that hosts our websites records IP addresses only for purposes of activity tracking across days, weeks and months of use. We make no effort to use IP addresses as a means of correlating data from separate interactive sessions with our websites or the websites of other companies.

POLICY CHANGES
While it will always remain our policy to produce web content that is appropriate and safe for the whole family, and involve parents in the choices their young children make, we will also be introducing new website features and responding to any new concerns about child privacy. These factors will lead to occasional updates of this document. We therefore will keep the currently active version available to the public on our websites' home pages.
